YOUNG WOMEN'S CONFERENCE ~ SLC

Saturday morning, 3/26/11, we met at the church to leave for SLC for the YW Conference! 5 Laurels, the Bishop, me and 2 advisors as well as the YM President! We had a 15 passenger Van and my car. I was planning on staying a few extra days to spend some time with my daughter and her family so I drove my car. Here we are at one of the rest stops we hit. The girls are now awake (they slept quite a bit the 1st while)
Of course some of them are NOT going to let me get a picture until the makeup is applied!
After getting to SLC, we immediately went to "Chuck A Rama " to eat lunch. It was fun! We then went back to the condo and unloaded. Maureen was so excited to stay at the condo and to ride the elevator. She said she had never ever stayed at a hotel or anything close in all her born days!! AMAZING! Anyway, any time I had to go down to the car, she was the one who volunteered to go with me because she got such a thrill out of the elevator. She would jump up each time it took off or stopped! It was hilarious!
We got ready to go to the Conference and even the leaders got to have their hair done!! Here Sister Owen is doing Sister Glasgow's hair!
All ready to go! We were actually trying to get a picture of Mandy but up till now .... it didn't happen!
Finally, once on Temple Square, she consented to pose with the other girls.
The Temple was beautiful as always and so magnificent. There is always such a spirit on the grounds!
The girls enjoyed checking out all the statues and reading the plaques posted on them!
We went to the Tabernacle and told the girls that Sunday morning we were going to be coming back to hear the choir and the Spoken Word. They were all very excited to do that.
Before parting I got a shot of Brother and Sister Owen. They are a newly married couple. He is our YM President and she is our Personal Progress Mentor. AWESOME couple!!
Although we had tickets and assigned sections at the Conference Center, the girls wanted to go at 5PM so they could get good seat pickin's in the section we were assigned to !!
They chose right in front of the balcony! Actually, it was a bit leg cramped for me but they were happy!!
It was such an awesome conference and the speakers and videos were all superb!!
Afterwards we ALL posed for the camera! It was a great time!!
ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD!!
Afterwards, I had to get a picture of all the women coming from the center! This is taken as I reached Temple Square.
And again, the majestic Salt Lake Temple at dusk! Simply BEAUTIFUL!!
The girls wanted to see a few more statues etc before we went across the street to the Deseret Book Store!
And I just couldn't quit taking pictures of the Temple!
At the book store there were hundreds of vases with a beautiful type of Lily in them. We thought they were fake BUT THEY WEREN'T !! As real as a garden full of them! They were gorgeous! I even got Mandy and Sister Owen to pose in front of them! The girls had a great time shopping and just looking at all the cool things there are to look at in Deseret Book! It was so fun!

After going back to the condo, we watched a video that Sister Glasgow bought. "Ester and the King" .... It was a musical and one girl LOVED it, one girl made fun of it and the rest watched it without much comment either way! lol

We finally went to bed and I heard the girls chatter for at least an hour after we went to bed. This is Maureen in the morning. The rest of them were up and getting ready but Mo doesn't need as much time to primp ...... cuz she doesn't! She is way cool!

Shelbee did Beth's hair and here she got a shot of hairspray on the face! Cute picture!

And here is her hair all done pretty .......even cuter picture!!

The Bishop and Brother Owen came to the condo at 8AM and we had a Sacrament Meeting right there in the condo. The Bishop conducted and spoke and the two of them blessed and passed the sacrament to us girls. We then had a testimony meeting after which we went to the Tabernacle for "MUSIC AND THE SPOKEN WORD" ........ The girls loved it and it was awesome!

This picture was taken just before it started while they were still practicing.

This is after the production was over and the girls were applauding!

Afterward we headed over to the Visitor's Center for a little more touring and sight seeing. Just before we did, Emily took my picture in front of the Temple.

After about an hour in the Visitor's Center, we parted ways. The girls went home and I went back to the condo to clean it up and then I headed to Layton to spend 3 days with my youngest daughter and her family. It was a great weekend.
